FTP games make money exactly like this. MtX keeps them alive. Look at war frame. Games like WoW that offer free transmog make money by not only charging for expansions but also by charging a monthly subscription fee. Would you rather do that? If you don’t want to pay, don’t. Save the crying for your mother.

Ok let's get some things straight here. Firstly, Destiny 2 is not a free to play game, it's a glorified trial, and I say glorified because it doesn't offer any actual CONTENT in it's "trial" that people call f2p. If you're a f2p, you get access to patrols, crucible, strikes, (I think gambit as well) and the ability to explore planets. That's IT. Oh wait... you also get the shitty intro quest as well. What you don't get is ACTUAL CONTENT such as oh I don't know... a SOLID STORY. Looking at games like FFXIV which has a subscription, when I tried the free 30 day trial, I played through the whole story of A Realm Reborn (ARR) which was good, all of ARR post-patch content and the first expansion Heavensward (it's included for free in the trial) which was also good. It was amazing. Not to mention the fact that I got my main job (or class as you may know it) -Gladiator to level 60 (after 30 it becomes Paladin), got my dark knight to level 43 ( you start off as 30), got my Lancer (Dragoon) to 50, and leveled a shit ton of crafting jobs from 1 to 40 (blacksmith, armorer, alchemist, and goldsmith). I also leveled one gatherer job, miner, to level 30. All this on a FREE TRIAL. Now what do you get on density's glorified trial? Oh, the shitty intro quest, strikes, crucible (which as primarily a pvp player I will say is a -blam!--fest thanks to stasis) (gambit, maybe?), and free roam/patrols on the planets... THAT'S IT. Are you F-ing kidding me? Shit's a joke, literally. Not to mention the fact that technically speaking, Destiny 2 does one again TECHNICALLY have a subscription, one you can either buy or not buy. It's called the season pass. Sure it's not an actual subscription like other REAL mmo's have which btw, Density is not a real MMO, hell it ain't even an MMO to begin with, but unless you want to free-roam on planets and maybe do raids/dungones for "fun" I guess or play the horrible crucible littler box littered with stasis and or do strikes/gambit, shit you have done a myriad of times - if at one point, you were an active player that is, you have to cough up the 10$ if you want to play anything reprised/"new" for that season, for those 3 months.

But we DO pay for the game, and we DO pay for seasonal content. And then Bungie just turns around pretending the game is free so they need microtransactions to stay alive. F2P was just an easy gateway into justifying more microtransactions.

And warframe doesn't lock a single activity nor weapon behind DLC or season pass like destiny. Destiny is a paid game acting like a f2p game trying to justify all the pay wall they set on every turn

Destiny is a F2P game though... You could create an account and play 80% of the content without paying a single cent

80%? let's check it - strikes : you can only play these strikes earth : arms dealer, lake of shadows, devil's lair, fallen saber, the disgraced nessus : exodus crash, inverted spire, insight terminus that's 8 out of 15 strikes, 53% of all strikes - campaigns : 1 out of 4 available campaigns, means only 25% of it - raids : 0 out of 3 - dungeon : 1 out of 3 - bounties - patrols - public events - patrols - lost sectors - crucible, which is a hot garbage - gambit, also hot garbage - iron banana, hot garbage too and for smaller content, how many exotic quest available for free? how many quest available for free? That's 18 out of 33 content, only 54% and most of them are pointless to do outside strikes, raids or dungeon so where's the remaining 26%? Or the remaining 50% counting out things that are pointless to do?
