I don’t think I’ve ever played a game where the environment is more dangerous than the actual enemies.
It used to be a bit of a laugh to die to the “architects” back in the day, for me its downright infuriating now, turn the game off levels of infuriating.

Death by environment is definitely a Bungle core focus (notice I didn't say "competency") and they appear to use it where it's superfluous. I get the boss stomp thing even if I think it sucks - it counters big swords, shotguns, close-range attacks in an absence of boss mobility. But death by elevator? Death by bumping a rock in a drop shaft? Death by ramp entering boss room? Death by getting snagged on a lip that acts way taller than it's drawn? Seriously? Very chickenbleep. It might be better if they gave us an emblem (Homer Simpson "DOH!" or somesuch) with a tracker that counted deaths of this nature...
