Hi there. Xür will award any exotics you haven’t earned if they aren’t required to be obtained from lost sectors. Since Beyond Light, all new exotic armor must be obtained in lost sectors. Xur will not reward any of those exotics from the fated engram until you unlock them and have all other exotics unlocked. The reason you aren’t getting Polaris is because it came from a quest and the quest has been removed. You must now acquire (buy) the weapon from exotic kiosk at the tower. That is now the only way to acquire it. Hopefully that all makes sense.

Also with the lost sectors, you must do the legendary and/or master versions of them. SOLO. They will NOT drop in a group. It is removed.

Those do make sense and that's also how I got my Necro Grips - from Legend Lost Sectors I'm still confused though - does getting duplicates from Fated Engrams mean I've acquired every weapon that's not locked behind an Exotic Cipher and 1 or 2 Ascendant Shards? And I still haven't figured out why I'm not getting Dawn Chorus or Mantle of Battle Harmony from Fated Engrams - because they're the last 2 armor pieces I need to complete my exotic armor collection on Warlock

Yes, gettind duplicates means you've got every exotic weapon and armor that can randomly drop from anywhere while you play. Polaris must be bought from the Monument to Lost Lights in the Tower as it was from a quest in Mars like DefyFly explained. Dawn Chorus and Mantle of Battle Harmony come from doing lost sectors on Legend or Master difficulty while solo.
