If you complete your already acquired catalysts, you get a higher drop chance. Ive tested this, completing my 4 catalysts and once i ran a few strikes, i got an old catalyst to drop

There is virtually no evidence about this. It is a common rumour that sometimes sort-of works for some people & then it doesn't for others (the very definition of randomness). For example I kept getting catalysts every now and then when I had many left incomplete, and then I completed them all & I didn't get any for 2-3 months. It's also a myth that has not been confirmed by Bungie (please mention a source if it has).
