Hi there. It's intentional that only the first character to do the quest will get 1 free Umbral engram. You will need to acquire an Umbral engram on each of your other characters through normal gameplay.

I’m having the same issue on my hunter the umbral engram is not dropping at all, I have run the battle ground around 4 to 5 times now without a drop, I ran it on my titan and warlock and got the umbral on my first run through battlegrounds, can you please look into this it literally stops any progress on your character for battlegrounds.

I suggest playing Strikes, Gambit, or Crucible instead.

I would suggest Bungie update the quest line to let people know how to earn the umbral by doing those things, or your going to have people lost in the game!

I know this. I went and got an umbral engram random drop from the nightfall. The quest says to decode a focused umbral engram, but you cannot focus an umbral as the recasted is locked until completing the quest. Decoding any umbral (UNfocused) will progress the quest.
