I personally feel it’s BS that players who play the game but take a break from it are punished from rewards, in particular shaders. I missed out on the Carmine, Caromina, and midnight smith shaders but would love a chance to earn them since they are some of the best looking shaders.
Wouldn’t it be a smart move for Bungie to make returning players feel welcome by letting them know “Hey you took a bit of a break, here’s some stuff u missed out on but can still earn” instead of “Hey u took a bit of break, for that reason, here’s some stuff u missed out on, that you’ll never get the chance to get again”
Also since we can no longer earn the bad juju and Outbreak catalysts (I’m sure there’s more) can u make them available for purchase at the kiosk or something.
-
They should allow us to purchase the gambit jadestone, carmanica and other shades or bring back those quests in the kiosk for lost missions..
-
That kiosk is just a slap in the face for long term players Asking for catalysts to be purchasable when it was a bit of a pain to not only obtain but complete? No I personally would like to earn a shader or two I missed out on, I think it’s gambit Jadestone - neatest green shader I’ve seen, would go great with the necrotic grips loadout Good news is, nothings sacred I’ve had crazy stuff drop from seasonal engrams of late, last week I had Consult the Archives drop - which I believe was exclusive to the Grimoire or a Silver only purchase
-
Shaders being time gated in my opinion is ok since it is only cosmetic but I think eververse should have everything available at all times
-
1 ReplyEveryone shouldn’t be able to have everything just because they want it. Certain things should be available to those who didn’t jump ship and stuck with it. It’s like a show of appreciation that the rewards that we earned don’t get diluted by just passing them out to everyone all the time. Bunch of lazy takers
-
...Shaders?... ...That's why you're upset?... Really.

Unfortunately for you, the adage that ‘you snooze, you lose’ applies here.

11 RepliesIt's almost like Bungie cares more about the people that stick around and actually play their game regularly more than they care about the people that leave for weeks/months/a year at a time.
-
It's not really punishment. You weren't playing while they were available. It doesn't mean that shaders cannot or should not rotate back in at some point.
-
I’m on the opposite side of things, Small minor things SHOULD be time limited. It tells other players you were playing during these time periods if you care about that stuff (Most don’t), emblems/shaders aren’t necessary and make no difference in the end so why not make them that much more special?
-
There should always be certain things that are exclusive to players who play year round. Esp when it comes to minir things like shaders and emblems that dont effect the actual game.
-
These weren't time gated things they all we're quest rewards active for entire seasons.
-
midnight smith came out back in season 5, you had almost 2 years to get that shader until beyond light came out though. Then again Destiny has always been like that since the original game, they brought out the Queens Wrath event. not many people got the Supremacy sniper from it. I dont see what the problem is, Bungie did state they were vaulting content, everyone was given 3 months extra almost because of the delay for beyond light.
-
So they shouldn’t reward the loyal and dedicated players because you feel entitled?
-
1 ReplyI agree with you but midnight smith sucks it seems scratched and messed up and that “carbon fiber” effect looks terrible What you want is the forge shaders, new age black armory makes things black and red and on the raid scout it looks awesome
-
It's just a shader. Nothing to get too bummed out about. I took a destiny break back along and missed gambit jadestone. It's (in my opinion) one of the best looking shaders. I've learnt that the best thing to do is just accept that there are some things in the game you'll never get. Time gated items should stay time gated.
-
6 RepliesNope, I like it. It's good that there is some level of appropriate exclusivity with cosmetics. It adds value to our time investment for those of us who earn it for its release period.

3 RepliesClearly the best shader is “Watermelon”.
-
nope. I do disagree with op. If you missed the season, you don't automatically get those shaders etc. They aren't time gated if you simply didn't play to earn them, you literally missed playing. I do see potential for bungie to sell them to you though. Miss a season, take a break, realize you missed a great shader.. if it was a random drop and not a triumph reward, I'm good if bungie sells it to you.
-
1 ReplyYes, How far you strived to fight for a better tomorrow. the X amount of time you put into the game and the X amount of dollars that you've put into it only to be "punished" for missing something. Woe I say! I weep for my fellow man for he has missed a shader... end scene
Did I do it right?
-
Don't worry after S5 or so shaders all became terrible and boring. Bergusian night gang.
-
Crying about shaders 😂 No wonder bungie don't listen to b.net
-
2 RepliesAt this point shaders are a very valuable commodity. Personally, the shaders I can’t access are more interesting than any title...
-
Shaders...ships (aka screen savers)... They must really be out of ideas if they’re time-gating shaders. I just...what...how...why is this even a thing ffs?
-
1 ReplyI would prefer if they remove time gate from... weapons and armors too
-
Dude shaders are the least of anyone’s concern. I understand if you miss something like Felwinters or True Prophecy because those are actually meta.
