There is no "right" or "wrong".
You personally like it when you are rewarded after playing for a specific amount of time.
For me it's absolutely boring if you can get absolutely everything only because you spend a predefined amount of time.
I totally enjoy it when you are lucky after being unlucky 20 times in a row.
The feeling that you had after getting the vex mythoclast (if you played D1) is totally missing in the game.
But that's only how I feel about it.

if it is boring, then the activity to get the item is not challenging enough.... and yes, there is a good feeling, when you get that item on the 21st run, IF I could do that 21 runs whenever I want.... NOT, if these 21 runs mean, that I have to just wait 7 weeks with only 3 chances per week, whilst others already can play with the new weapon... like I said, if rng, then let me at least farm for it as many times per week as I want...
