I wonder if the Stranger, if indeed Elsie, sees the Vex as evil that hates other evil partially because of their part in the Exo program.

<Clovis stole the Vex. They were victims here. Her hatred towards them may come from what they did in her timeline. Her actions against the Heart (be it indirectly) led to the first dismantling of the Sol Divisive and the Traveler's healing processes finally going uninterrupted. Perhaps in her timeline, the Garden was never entered, and the Heart continued poking the God of Light's wounds with a small needle until the Divisive managed to harness its energy, creating the full-powered Sol Progeny. With the Sol Progeny being the biggest potential threats beyond even Crota and possibly Oryx, they might've begun taking over the system. The Stranger notes that the Moon doesn't have any Vex gates at the time of her entry years ago. Hell, the Hive themselves seemed to be a rather non-threat to her, which we know shouldn't the case due to Oryx and Savathun. The Vex may have started erasing beings entirely, and the threat level might've gotten to a point where the Traveler woke up way too early. This would draw the Pyramids here and we'd have a total collapse scenario where the Traveler dies and the remnants of what's left try to survive. Therefore, the "they brought us here" line may make total sense. They were the "Red Legion" of her time.>

That second paragraph looks to be a great tie-in to what we already know. If this is the case, it would make a lot of sense.

Interesting.
