It seems the artificial grind is all this company has had to offer since Forsaken. The game was in a good place when Forsaken released, it was the day this company took the advice from their streamers to change the name for masterwork cores to enhancement cores when the game went downhill with just about everything. If you look at all the unnecessary changes that took place to create that grind that wasn't necessary you can see where it started and how much effort this company put into that just to keep that artificial grind going. 1. Changing the name of the masterwork cores from what they were actually created for. 2. Constantly adding unnecessary material like the ciphers. 3. Constantly raising the cost to masterwork or buying certain material. 4. Raising the amount of material to use for certain items. 5. Way overdoing the number of bounties, and to complete bounties, get 1500 final blows or whatever. 6. The outrageous amount of duplicates. 7. 95% of the gear drops with stats so low that we're dismantling legendary items like blues. 8. RNG on top of RNG. 9. Drop rate for certain items were set deliberately to have a very low drop rate. 10. Throttling seems to be a big thing this company loves to do that is way overused with just about everything in this game. I could add a few more, but the truth is if this company spent time trying to create quality content that keeps players engaged in that content? A lot of the things I posted wouldn't have had to take place to try to force players time to show numbers.

  • Just go play warframe. It’s what I did and I’m having a blast as a “newish” player

  • It's RNG on top of RNG on top of RNG now. Layer 1: Play an activity for a chance to get a Cipher. Layer 2: Complete Haunted Forest for a chance to get the AR rewards. Layer 3: Pray to RNJesus for a decent roll on the reward from layer 2. Triple layered RNG.

  • Yep, they rely on RNG way too much in this game or go the complete opposite. As someone said already in this post, they have no idea how to find a happy medium.

  • Amen brother. You captured it extremely well. The appalling Masterwork Core "re-purposing" BS so they could brutally castrate infusion (despite extensive community objection) was just one of the many evidences that Bungle doesn't give two hoots about what its predominant players (as opposed to streamers/no-lifers) enjoy or want. And don't forget how they lock the highest-end weapons behind abhorrent amounts of grinding in single-path activities that are not considered enjoyable by a majority of their players. Their attitude is arrogant and dismissive. Their manipulations of playtime, and playtype, are despicable. If they let people play what and how we want, and (as you said) put their resources into making activities that are actually desirable and engaging, this could be a really great game.

If they let people play what and how we want, and (as you said) put their resources into making activities that are actually desirable and engaging, this could be a really great game.[/quote] They need to move away from going to one extreme to the opposite. When the base game released they were handing everything out like candy, the thing is (No one asked for that ever.) They made that choice on their own and it was the dumbest move I have ever seen in a loot-based game. We asked them to create content that was engaging and their idea of what that meant was to go the complete opposite that has ruined the experience for a hell of a lot of players playing this game. Activation was literally the only one that kept Bungie in check in spite of what anyone thinks about them. I don't like Activision but since they left we haven't really got anything since forsaken that significantly improved this game, and with this next expansion, things are going to be a hell of a lot worse with this artificial grind with barely any content added to the game versus what's being removed leaving really nothing to play in this game if you have been around for a while. Creating content that is not replayable doesn't work for this game and never will. I don't get why they don't understand this having a loot-based system.

  • Well said again. And up to a point, replayable content is fine; I've been through each of the Borderlands series several times across multiple classes, and still enjoy it. But that's several times through a large and extensive campaign with optional side missions and scaling difficulty, not dozens and dozens of same-old Scourge runs just to get one GL, or endless Crucible matches for hundreds of otherwise-pointless weapon-specific kills to get one good (but not great) rifle... The WOTW/catalyst/ship questline were fine, largely because what you got was unique and worth having, but also because getting there was interesting and fun once you got the hang of it.
