The small fishman with stars in his eyes picks up the envelope, curious, and opens it.
English
-
A black satin invitation is enclosed. In aquamarine script, it simply reads, "The Libraries of The Reef are open for use."
-
“Library? Master wants knowledge, libraries have books, books have knowledge!” The fish man jumps excitedly, then stops. “Ra-ra-reef?”
-
The envelope near-inaudibly chuckles. The script now reads, "Yes, the Reef."
-
The fish man is confused, and looks for a return address. “Ree-reef... R E E F... reef...”
-
The envelope mildly chuckles again, and as the fisherman examines the envelope, the back of the black paper glitters, if not for the surrounding light, the light-reflective script on the back may never have been found. It lists a set of geographical coordinates for the "Reef".
-
“Ah! Reef!” The fishman dives into the water, swimming quickly with his fins.
-
Soon, you arrive at The Reef. A large wall of silt is in front of the fisherman.
-
“Reef... reef... this is reef, but not library.”
-
The silt shifts suddenly, and forms a large arrow. It points through the wall of silt.
-
“Library?” The kuo toa swims towards the arrow
-
OMG you broke these guys out again! I thought it was one of them, but I wasn't sure!
As soon as it enters the wall, you appear in a massive library, dark and silent.
-
“Library!” The fishman squeals excitedly and tucks the envelope into his small sash.
-
The dark halls do not answer.
-
He skips through the aisles, looking around to get a sense of the area, all while humming a little tune.
-
The halls seem to go for 60-100 shelves, and end with a grand staircase at the back.
-
“Ahh, you’re saved for last last last!” He skips over to the opposite side of the room from the staircase, and looks at the shelves on the right corner.
-
They are orderly, and have a console at the beginning of the row of shelves. There is a movable staircase to reach to upper levels.
-
Starting at the bottom of the shelf, at the far side, he’ll pull out the first book.
-
The book is unmarked, but has a black leather-like substance as a cover.
-
Opening the book, he starts to read.
His gift, as the starry eyes visibly mark, is that he can read anything. A useful information gathered
-
The book is in an odd and unknown script, but due to the Kuo Toa's gift, it is clearly describing the denizens of The Reef, not the newly made second generation, but the ancient creatures. Would you like to examine it more closely?
Yes I will be documenting this.
-
With a generous extended lifespan, and a life’s work ahead of him, he reads deeper.
-
Along with the Library having a slowed time loop, the book continues. The first page describes something called a Leviathan. The picture taking up half of the page is heavily detailed, and looks like an exact reproduction. The length of the creature is several football fields, and could easily swallow a passenger ship whole.
-
“Cool...” He reads more.
-
The picture above seems to be one of the Elder variety. There is a stamp next to the photo, it reads in aquamarine script that shines on the yellowish parchment, "EXTINCT."
