    You’d have to nerf 600 rpm ar’s and sidearms if you wanted SMGs to feel viable. Currently sidearms do everything they do better and are lowkey broken and 600 rpm AR’s also do everything thing they do better.

      • It’s hard to say how SMGs can become better in PvP. If you rank weapons based on range it goes like this: Shotgun Sidearm-Fusion Rifle Auto Rifles-Pulse Rifles-Handcannons Scout Rifles-Sniper Rifles Obviously there are variants and other weapons but you get the idea. So where does that leave SMGs? They’re supposed to be in the same area as Sidearms and Fusion Rifles. Yet they are outclassed by Sidearms and Auto Rifles because of their damage output. So do we increase the damage? Yes. But only precision. I feel that this would work. With their RoFs it would be a nightmare to deal with if body damage got an update.

        • So basically you're saying that SMGs can't compete with auto rifles due to recoil and range? TL:DR Autos were over tuned relative to their ease of use.

            • SMGs were introduced specifically for close range. To replace the high rof w/ low impact autos from D1, like my Arminius-D. Smgs are short range and should stay short range. Hybrids make balancing even harder. I think seasonal rotating metas is the best we can hope for. Mainly since we would all know when they would change, so people who don’t like it can plan around it. Also we wouldn’t have to rely on Bungie to realize there is an issue and then wait who knows how long while they fumble around for a fix.

                  • Honestly I think they just need a recoil change on console. There almost no reason to use an SMG when the recoil is so bad for almost every one. Most become useless past 10m

                      • I think instead of singular weapon tuning, an entire weapon system overhaul is needed, so that weapons can be used in specific circumstances, rather than “I pick this bullet hose today”
