Depends on whether it's in the lava chamber or not. On the top? You'd make a lava filled crater. In the magma chamber? You would fling ash, gigantic boulders, molten rock, bad gases, and who knows what else into the atmosphere at the most.

Oh definitely. Well. The thing is, you'd blow the lava, well, magma at the time, back into the earth depending on where you detonate it in the volcano.
