That's what you should be getting. Your artifact is not part of your gear score, and looking at your character, your gear ranges from 1048 to 1051 (I'm guessing you probably have 1050 boots, though). Pinnacles are either +1 or +2 above your highest possible power level, depending on their source.
Crucible, Strikes, and Gambit pinnacles are just +1, while things like raids, dungeons, and 1K Nightfalls give +2 pinnacles.
Based on what you currently have on, you should be getting 1051 or 1052 pinnacles depending on what activities you're doing.

Thank you! So is the system still in place where I basically need to always have equipped my highest gear to get drops of a higher level?

You do not need to have yoir highest gear equipped. The game should automatically know what your highest possible power is, and calculate your drops off of that, whether the items are equipped or not.
