(Non rp) Have read the rangers apprentice series?
-
*Sips coffee.* Will, what have I told you about asking so many questions?
-
🤣 I thought the cloak and the coffee were familiar! Those were great books
-
They really are. They're some of my favorites. Them and the Lord of the Rings molded my view of rangers and are why I like them so much. Though Horace was also awesome.
-
Horace was great. Have you read the prequels?
-
I read the first one, and own the second. I need to make time to read it sometime soon. Those are my favorite books after the main 11, he did a great job with Crowley and Halt
-
Yeah. And honestly I like em a little bit more than the original 11
-
Nice, while I still like the originals best, those are extremely close in my mind.
-
What do you think of the sequels?
-
Edited by RingLeader77: 8/6/2020 3:13:43 AMGenuine spoilers for sequels ahead for anyone who haven't read them.
I enjoyed them enough, but I think it isn't as well done as the prequels or originals. The choice to kill Alyss "off screen"/inbetween books really bugged me, as it felt like an unemotional way to kill such an important character. I do still like them decently though, and need to catch up on the series in general.
*A red cloaked man approaches the table where you and your bard sits.* “Hello there, fellow cloak wearer, have you gone long, and seen many things in your travels to get here today?”
-
*I tug at the end of my cowl as one would a hat, to great the newcomer.* "Indeed I have, my cloaked friend. Here, pull up a chair and we can share each of our journeys."
-
*He sits down across from you.* “Do you spend much time outdoors? I can almost smell the scent of grass and pines on you.”
-
*I smile.* "You are right, sir, I spend much time in the wilds. Your senses are well tuned to smell the pine scent, a finer smell than any that one may buy in the city. What of you, you have the hearing of a man well travelled?"
-
“I can’t say so myself. I did travel here from elsewhere but it is here where I stay. I live on the outskirts of the city and work as a blacksmith. When you have to make every hammer strike perfectly you tend to learn to see the little things.”
-
"A blacksmith, that's a good craft. Do you often forge weapons and armor?"
-
“Nay. Most people assume a blacksmith can craft just about anything, yet for that you would need a weapon smith, or a armorer and even for most armors you’d also need someone to get the leather and make armor from it. So no, I mainly focus on horseshoes and smaller items for common people.”
-
"An even more important job. Have you heard of an old rhyme, one about how for the want of horseshoe nail a whole kingdom was lost?"
-
“No, I have not it seems to ring with truth though. So what is it that you do, woodsman?”
-
"I go about the land, seeking people who may be in trouble, or those who make it. I try to keep threats from the big city from reaching the smaller towns and villages, for there is much territory between the capitol and these towns, plenty of road to waylay evil on."
-
“Hi there! I’m Izuma Lunae, who are you?” I take a seat next you, and a beaming smile is spread across my face. If you’ve ever met Pyre before, I look a lot like her. “I’ve just got back from visiting some family, and I’m meeting all the new faces. If I’ve forgotten yours, well, I won’t forget it this time!” I chuckle and order a drink.
-
I smile and nod in greeting. "I am Ring, and I have been expecting you."
-
“A pleasure to meet you, Ring! I didn’t think I was expected, but it doesn’t hurt to have a few surprises.” I laugh and take a sip of what looks like brandy with fire in it. “Whats your occupation, Ring? If you don’t mind my asking, of course.”
-
"I am a ranger, I travel the lands in search of mystery but more importantly for trouble. Not my own, but other's, so that I may help them."
-
“You sound like a good man, ranger. What brings you to town?”
