I can only imagine what a lag fest it would be with that kind of a system where the population is divided into so many different tiers, on top of matchmaking players by the amount of wins on their card. Even if you took out the matchmaking by wins and only had these tiers, i bet it would still be a horrible experience in terms of the connection quality. There isn't even remotely enough people playing this game to support this type of system.

Maybe you haven’t played trials before. What do you suggest?

I have played it, although not since the 2nd weekend, and it was laggy already back then. Bungies matchmaking has always been garbage, already in D1 Trials we matched a team that wasn’t even in Europe like me and my team at least once per passage, and that was with a much bigger playerbase. The same happened with D2, along with playing teams that clearly benefitted from their poor connections although located in the same continent, so i’ve had 0 interest of playing any more. Losing to teams that don’t take damage properly is a shitty experience. If you divide the playerbase into this many tiers i’m sure the lag would be a constant issue, even if you had a massive increase in the amount of players. It needs an overhaul to the bounty and token system so that there is plenty of loot you can get without going flawless so that players of all skill levels could have several rewards, make the rewards worth getting, and have adept versions for going flawless. Matchmaking should be purely connection based to minimize lag issues, and to remove the incentive the reset your card after a few wins for ”easier tokens” since you are more likely to match a lesser skilled team early in the card with the current system, and some players exploit this for both the loot as well as stat padding.

It might make queue times go up a little, but if it can bring in a significant amount of players it will offset that.
