Unfortunately Bungie aren’t remotely interested in the casual players general PvP experience, never mind Trials. If you’re not a high tier streamer stack stomping their opponents they couldn’t give a shit about whether you’re having fun. -
You're probably right but it flies in the face of logic. The way Trials worked in D1, even if you never made it to the lighthouse you could still get worthwhile rewards for participating. The rewards from going flawless rewarded prestige versions of the exact same gear. An adept version of Doctrines passing was visually different from the one gained from a bounty. To have a reward system that can result in lesser skilled players putting hours into an activity with nothing to show for their effort is amateurish.

I was happy with what I got from D1 trials even though I never made it to the lighthouse..The incentive to play was still there. Does make me wonder with D2 trials, if it's been streamer/twitch orientated for the ££.

The experience for them is that if they're not going up against each other they're playing against hackers or receiving DDoS attacks that'll not only kick them out of the game but shut down their stream. Sucks to be them.

I was one of those lesser skilled players that played Trials every weekend in D1 year 2. I had full Trials armour sets for each class plus all Trials weapons. I even got dragged to flawless a couple of times by people that offered a free carry, think it was something to do with my ELO being really low. I stopped playing Trials in D1 Year 3. Bungie changed the rewards so that the bounty only gave the same gear from year 2. All because the elitists had complained that scrubs like me were able to get current gear, even though it was cosmetically different to their Adept version. -
Game developers should never listen to advice or demands that make the majority of their players want to play less or quit altogether.
Give casual players motivation to play or let it die.
It’s already essentially dead, but I agree that it should be organized so all players have incentive to participate and an opportunity to enjoy it.
