While I get where you are coming from, I just don't see a true matchmaking system working out well for raids at all. The community has more than enough trouble completing far simpler tasks, such as contact events, and things like that. Trying to then get a bunch of people to do a raid, that don't even have mics, would very likely not go well at all. Now you personally may be perfectly fine with potentially failing again and again because of things like lack of mics, and such. But that is unlikely to be the case for at least a small very vocal group. Who would be incredibly likely to complain that the raids are far to hard, that random groups with no mics just can't do it, because the callouts are to complicated, or the mechanics require to much teamwork. And not saying that Bungie would definitely listen to those people, but there is a very real possibility, especially if they are loud enough. Which could then lead to the fun being greatly diminished for other people. Now at the same time, we do already have a few systems in place to help people out. There is of course LFG, but I understand people not being a huge fan of that system, none the less it does exist and can work. Second, and a much better system in my opinion, is clans. There are many clans out there for all kinds of people, including fairly large clans that don't tend to turn anyone away and are more than willing to schedule training raids, I know of at least two or three like that, which are massive, and have a whole request system. The third option is the guided games, it isn't great, there is a lot Bungie could do to improve it, but it is there, and can work. Personally I would much rather see Bungie make big improvements to the guided games system, rather than implement a normal match making system, but that is just me.

  • If they fix the design for scalability these would not be issues. Ergo, changing for scalability. If 10+ year old Action_MMO's and FPS's can do it, Destiny can do it.

  • It would not change the fact that these raids typically require a fair amount of communication, usually far more than a simple system could provide for. There is also the fact that most people would much rather raids remain relevant given how few of them there, rather than downgrade them to make them easier and give completely worthless gear.

  • You should ask yourself WHY it requires you use communication when other games have successfully done without it. And it has nothing to do with skill. If saying " Go Now" is the skill required along with having to cheese it with as many dumb power weapon combos they didn't intend for, the game design has some serious overhauls required.

I am going to assume you really haven't done many raids at all, if you have then you would know that callouts are a pretty big part of this games raids, and so is coordination. It is simply how destiny raids are, and if you don't like them then don't do them, if more communication heavy raids aren't for you then that is fine. But you saying that the system needs a change if it can't be done with minimal communication is exactly why many are against the idea of a match making system. You have given the perfect reason why, because with a matchmaking system comes people like you who want the system reduced, thereby reducing the fun for many others. What you just said needs to happen, is exactly why people oppose even your optional matchmaking idea. And just because other games are simplified doesn't mean all should be, nor do they have to be. The level of cooperation required for many is what makes destiny raids fun. If you don't like it then they just simply aren't for you.
