There is a faint red glow in the distance. It is making loud guttural screeches and slowly getting closer.

Sky leaps up off the log with her bow in hand, and draws an arrow, aiming in the direction of the sounds. They don’t sound like those of any animals she knows of, causing her heart to pound in her chest. She waits patiently.
-
Blub keeps getting closer, completely oblivious of Skyes presence. He seems to be tearing up the ground and eating rocks. He gets close enough that his white eyes can be seen. He makes a sudden scream, sending a gust of wind in all directions, but not strong enough to cause damage.
-
In shock Skye recoils as the wind blows past her, causing wisps of her hair to fall out of its bun. When Blub’s scream subsides, she calls out, “Andrew’s cross, what are you?”
-
Blub jolts up and looks straight in Skyes direction. His large toothy grin is not very pleasant, especially with some grass hanging out of it. It falls out of his mouth when he begins to speak. “WHERE DID YOU COME FROM!? HAVE YOU BEEN STANDING THERE THE WHOLE TIME!? YOU SCARED THE CRAP OUTTA ME!!! Oh, I’m Blub by the way, and you are?”
-
“I’ve... been here all evening.” She lowers her weapon. “I’m Skye, sorry to have scared you. You... might have scared me a wee bit.”
-
Blubs red glow subsides. “Ah, yes, sorry about the commotion. I returned here from my home planet just recently and I am FILLED WITH RAGE!!!!! I should be looking for Gannathon right now, but I’ve just been eating branches and stuff for hours. What exactly are you doing in here by yourself? Hide and seek?”
-
“I, uh, no. I’m spending the night here.” She gestures to her camp, consisting only of a nearly dead fire and the log upon which she sat moments ago. “I don’t have the money to pay for a room at a hotel or anything.” She pushes a strand of her hair out of her face and continues to watch him cautiously.
-
“Oh, that’s unfortunate. I would offer you to come to my hideout but it’s under a parking lot and it’s really dusty.... there’s also no air conditioning, and no beds, and no windows, and there’s a pretty large spider that hides in the walls. Your camp is probably safer than my place BUT ENOUGH OF MY RAMBLING! Why did you choose to stay out here instead of within the city? Yes, it’s crowded in there, but I have a strange feeling that there are flesh monsters in this forest.”
-
“I like the quiet,” she replies, a little sadly. “It... it reminds me of home. Besides, I got a lot to think about, and it’s hard to focus in the city.”
-
*Blub takes a seat on the ground* So what is it that you’re thinking about? I like to think about screaming AND THEN I ACTUALLY SCREEEAAAAMMMM!!! *Ahem* sorry about that....
-
Skye winces at his scream and turns to set her bow aside and sit back on the log. “Just... someone is looking for me, and I don’t really know what he wants. And he’s... hurt some people.”
-
Edited by TurtleD01: 5/26/2020 3:37:23 AM“Who is looking for you? Do you believe they want to kill you?”
-
She hesitates. “An old and close friend... er, once close. I don’t know whether or not he wants actually hurt me but...”
-
“That’s....tough. Have you maybe thought of looking for him instead of having him find you? Not sure if it would really help but maybe you could catch him off guard.”
-
Her brow furrows at the suggestion. Why hadn’t she thought of it earlier? “That’s... not a bad idea. The problem is, I don’t know where he is. I... uh... I couldn’t even remember him until someone told me he was out there.” She shrugged sheepishly.
-
*Blub squints and scratches his side* “Hmmmmmm...... Do you remember a little bit of how he looks at least? Maybe if you told me that I could be on the lookout for him.”
-
“Aye, I remember what he looks like. Well, how I last saw him... around twenty years old, short blond hair, brown eyes, a little taller than me... he wears a gray cloak over his right shoulder and has an accent like mine.” She pauses to bite her lip in concern. “But... if you ever do see him, be careful. He‘s... changed a lot, and—“ a subtle look of guilt shadows her face “—who knows how many more people he’s hurt?”
-
“If there’s one thing I’ve learned in my time here, it’s to never underestimate anybody..... I learned that the hard way.” *Blub takes a look at his arm for a moment* “It’s quite strange. I’ve reached my final form, and yet I can still feel the burns.”
-
“The burns?”
-
“The burns are from Gannathon. He is...... a monster. He actually had a chance to kill me not too long ago, but he let me live. I believe he said he wanted to kill me when I became less “pathetic.” *Blub takes a deep breath* “Gannathon and I were both made by the same group of people known as the Creators. He was created before me, but he was more powerful than the Creators had anticipated. They had locked him away, but he broke free and hunted me down. He wound up killing a friend of mine once he arrived here along with a few dozen other people, and he probably plans on turning this whole place into a molten wasteland.”
-
Skye presses her lips together at the news. “I’m sorry to hear about that... losing a friend isn’t easy. And... knowing you’re being hunted isn’t easy, either!” She gives a short and nervous laugh. “What will happen with Gannathon? Can’t these ‘Creators’ stop him again?”
-
“The creators told me that they weren’t powerful enough to stop him, so they made me eat a fleshy ball called the Agonus to boost me to my final form. After that I took off and returned here so that I may face him once more..... I will kill him this time...... BUT ENOUGH ABOUT ME! What is the name of the man who is looking for you?”
-
“His name is Errol. But... if I’m to be honest, the main reason I’m telling you this is so that you can avoid him. I don’t want anyone else getting hurt because of me. Besides, you have your own mission to do, and I’m positive no one wants this place to end up being a molten wasteland.”
-
“That is true.... I would hate for anybody to cross paths with Gannathon. Alright, if I happen to see Errol I’ll make sure to get away and tell you.” *Blub stands back up* “I should probably get going. I have a lot of punching and screaming...... and eating to do. I suggest you get that fire going so the flesh monsters stay away. I have not have seen a flesh monster yet, but I have no doubt that they are somewhere.....”
-
Skye can’t help but give a small smile. “Alright, thank you. It was good meeting you, Blub. Good luck with Gannathon.”
