They need to go back and think about why people played the hell out of D1 vanilla and the dark below.

Let me guess, because there were rocket launchers that outclassed all other heavies, or special ammo snipers that generated infinite ammo. Bungie can do that again. The only way that they can make super powerful weapons is if those weapons are only relevant during that era, sunsetting needs to be a thing then.

I take your point...there was a lot of of must have gjally, must be invis hunter, must have ice breaker. You could melt bosses and it did feel easy but I think that naturally happens. As more and more people get exposed to techniques and strategy everyone moves towards a similar execution during activities. But for me it was how rare everything was and the reason why you had to do it. For example the vog weapons were extremely rare and I remember being excited for Tuesday to have another go. Additionally the armour was just as rare but the only thing which sucked back then was forever 29. But back then only the raid gave the highest gear until the final iron banner offered armour to makeup for it. As for exotics you’d hold your breath when you saw the rewards screen and doing the heroic strikes for 27 strange coins made xur even more worth it. You just don’t get that with d2 there’s no excitement when it comes to loot.
