Experienced
Fallen
They say that we are a horror story, a nightmare come true. We are not. We are a tragedy, a story full of loss that led to savagery. A once mighty race degenerated into backstabbing brutes. A disgrace.
This is why we are called Fallen, this is why I fight. To restore our status, to return our Great Machine to us. Maybe that makes me a fool, but I'd rather die a fool believing in something than a scholar believing in nothing. If it takes my life to wrench the Great Machine from humanities wretched claws, I will gladly give it.
They took everything, everything. So I endeavor to do the same.
The captain whose thoughts those were sat preparing for battle. They were going to assault the City, take back what they had lost.
His rusted armor and red cape told everyone around him that he was of House Devils. He would stand with his house and crash into their wall, grind it into pulp.
The signal went off and they dropped out of their Skiff onto a field. It was still wet with dew, the wall towered above them. Then it was chaos, fire and lightning rained down on them. His fellow Devils were sucked into black holes, this was the Light.
This was the power his people should have been given, not the filth he was killing now. They were making progress though, they had almost broken through the main defensive formation. Soon the City would be the battlefield, and the Great Machine would be theirs.
They would finally have proven themselves worthy of it, and then the Light would be theirs. He would have vengeance, he would have vindication. Then there was a bright flash.
There was now a hole in the wall, an entrance to the City! His ether tasted sweeter than ever.
Then as they began to push through the hole a group of titans blocked their way. They formed an impenetrable wall and blocked out way in. They glowed a bright orange like they were on fire. No, not on fire… they were fire.
Then his fellow Devils broke, and a retreat began. Not an orderly on, but a confused dash away from them. As he was swept away in the tide of his house members he felt loss. They had been defeated, on their supposed day of victory, they lay dead on the field.
At this he knew they were truly the Fallen.
