The reality of High Impact Fusions as presented by Cool Guy: Something IS wrong with them.

37 min damage falloff with Liquid coils Firmly planted + Transmission scope turns it into a sniper, easily 50+ meter shots, easy tag on kill clip: damage floor goes back to 49, normal damage AT ANY RANGE, easy 80 meter kills, even good power at 100 As for balancing ideas, it isn't range, not at all. Personally think that considering all of this, we actually have a way to properly balance the archetype: Should the Omolon sniper scopes go? Does backup plan belong to any legendary? Should Plan C take it back? Should it have the ability to shoot fast twice? Should Fusions go back to being projectile weapons? Should the H.I. damage floor allow more falloff?   • It may seem that they're ridiculously overpowered, but they are still extremely less used than a shotgun. Based purely on usage and success numbered shotguns are still significantly stronger than high impact fusions

    • From what I understand is that the only "evidence" that it is op at ranges is that it can OHK at exceptional ranges. Understandable. Until you realize the -blam!-ing stars must align for that to happen. The only time I have seen this happen in a PUBLIC match is when the victim was not paying attention, also being team shotted, was also weak already, and the user didn't even land every bolt. They neutered LH/NF perk because of the rare occurance of it two tapping. Instead of fixing it and keeping its power, they neutered it. I don't want to see the same happen to Fusions because of one fusions that has to be a perfectly perfect roll to execute a super rare task. Back Up Plans is the problem. Not Erentil supposedly mapping people.

      • Fusion Rifles: it's called a rifle for a reason. I dont want them to have sniper range, but I dont agree with nerfing them to shotgun ranges as some people want. Honestly just reduce the range a little and that's it! Dont touch the bolts and give them more spread.

        • I really hated when D1 reached the point where things stopped being overpowered but got nerfed anyway. I feel like D2 is about to hit that point in March.

          • I don’t deny that erentil is a formidable weapon in crucible and has been for some time. There’s another side to the coin though. I believe it is much more prevalent in crucible due to the extremely high requirements for Randy’s throwing knife scout rifle (medals in particular). It’s widely known that the cold fusion medal is one of the most efficient medals to earn and since the erentil is so effective at getting them it becomes a more common choice. I’m currently working on that step myself and also using erentil for it. Without it the progress becomes a slog that I much rather have my time spent in other parts of the game. Normally I use primaries, well, primarily when I play crucible but this fusion has become a necessary evil to accomplish an inflated grind. If this step were not as heavy or present at all I doubt folks would abandon the gun outright but I do think it’s percentage of usage would go down considerably.

It will be at that point someone will post, nerf x's vocabulary. I really am fed up of these posts

              Just going off stats Ops last 7 games theirs been 182 total kills. Anyone wanna guess how many Erentil Kills? Anyone wanna guess how many shotgun kills? Anyone wanna guess how many Sniper kills?                 • Now mention the people he didnt kill in the video or the fact the video is chopped up game play. To promote the propoganda about a non issue weapon. Show me multiple videos of full game plays where people are killing with fusions 100% of the time they shoot them. Doesnt happen. If u dont hit the shots youre not getting the kill unless the person was already damaged. Which btw was also in the video. Dont show us bias video to push agenda.

                  • If Bungie can keep changes separate for PvE and PvP, then I'm indifferent about any PvP changes. Bungie doesn't have the best track record doing this though, so I say leave it.

                    nerf useful weapons in PvE: lose PvE players to other games, see bad reviews on Steam, etc, etc and heck, PvP players will just be whining about the next gun on their list that irritates them better than nerf: ban the weapons in PvP and leave PvE players in peace

                    • Why not just add a second comp playlist that is primary only or even handcannon only. That way all you people that don’t like shotys or fusions or any other weapon you don’t know how to defend against can’t be used against you.

                          • Shotguns and snipers are everywhere, not fusions. Backup plan allows fusion weapons to counter shotguns. The range I suppose could be reduced or increase the spread so the damage is less.

                            • Guys, destiny has been around for 5+ years now. They've run out of ideas. People are playing out of addiction at this point, so they're going to use the cheapest loadout they can find to get numbers over people's heads. Nerf fusions, you will see nothing but shotties. Or linears (Arbalest will be everywhere). Or jotunn will be everywhere. Or we will be back to teamshooting snipers. The teamshooting has already returned in a major way anyway. Look, I love this game, but it's possible there is just no saving PvP. At least it may be without literally breaking guns, which is never a good thing.

                            • I'd almost say now, since they fire bolts of "energy" (besides bastion), just put a max range the bolts travel before the energy dissapates into the ether. Then, erentil can't go past say 45m ever. Perks just make them function better up to that point but the fusion archtype can't travel past X meters. Trying to think of an option that keeps them as they are without nerfing how they function overall. A tweak to how they act. Each arch-type would function that way with a max reange before the bolts just disappear. Not touching perks, don't care, they don't bother me, nor do fusions. But this seems like a viable option for reign in High Impacts and giving each other type their functioning range. Rapid fires good to 25m, Precision travel to 35m, High impacts to 45m. Spread pattern is another topic. The great people make them a laser. Most of us paint walls with them alot. Also more guns need to be brought up to the levels of their counterparts for more variety. Love to see more guns viable in PvP other than the standard 10 meta guns, that have been meta almost always last 16 months.

                              • Ugh this is one if the things I despise about the PvP community. Not only do they overreact, they don't even understand the why's in the first place. I swear they wont be happy until it's a shotgun fest again with a few snipers sprinkled in. Seriously can someone tell me what the counter play is to a shotgun-ape or a meth-infused shoulder charger is? The high impact fusions (which account for a small amount of kills) at least allow you to do something!

                                  Well, in this case, it seems that the perks in Erentil are broken. Liquid Coils and Firmly Planted should not be giving a better range effectiveness than Rangefinder. It should also not have scout rifle range. Just fix the perks and adjust the range. Problem solved. That should satisfy the Cruci-Wimps around here........for about 10 minutes.

                                  • Why is everyone so afraid to nerf Erentil when its fully justified? Backup plan is -blam!-ing insane and outclasses even the most aggressive shotgun rushers. I -blam!-ing kid you not I played at least 10 matches of rumble this morning and I kept queuing with the same people that used nothing but Erentil, and almost NEVER used their primaries. Its -blam!-ing broken, and the best thing to do is just make them as they were in D1. They can still be nasty, but balanced. Think back to the Vacancy when that reigned supreme in D1 as one of the best fusions in the game. Its essentially what Erentil is except it doesnt get BP

                                    I wouldn’t HAVE to use erentil (if I feel like playing with a fusion rifle) if other fusion rifles were more consistent (against high resilience). I have sharded god roll main ingredients and the like because I have had to two shot with a weapon that has a charge time. Not getting a kill with a charge weapon on the first shot is pretty much a death sentence. Add another win to the SpareBender META loadout :-)
