It's easily a desktop replacement.
Maybe not a high-end gaming rig, but as a laptop, if you have about a grand to spend, it's a hossy machine.

Does it feel weird not instinctively clicking "unleash the ninjas" when you see that title? But yes, it competes with my desktop which is about 2 years old. My paycheck from working a ton of hours during the holiday is going entirely to a new computer, just thinking it might be a bit too awesome (and expensive).
