i'm pretty sure lore wise the golden gun is the weapons a hunter uses engulfed in solar energy, in theory you could also get a golden auto rifle however hunter usually use and cannons, lets say you have a hunter with malfeasance and a hunter with the last word:
the first hunter will have a golden malfeasance with all the characteristics of malfeasance
the second hunter will have golden last word with all the characteristics of the last word

But since D1 the Golden Gun has been the Last Word in animation, why change it now for seemingly no reason?
