I like how every single Jedi influential in he Skywalker Saga chimes in to help Rey defeat Palpatine. My favorite part about the entire movie is that she’s no longer a Mary Sue. She’s the flipping Granddaughter of Palpatine! My only wish is that there was a final scene with every Force ghost in the saga.

  • For a trilogy that was trying to emphasize that anyone could be powerful with the force, it’s finale had a lot to do with bloodlines

  •
My only wish is that there was a final scene with every Force ghost in the saga.
Disagree. The fact that only Luke and Leia show up at the end, and Rey adopts the Skywalker surname by choice is one of the best scenes in the entire movie. Along witht he fact that she now has her own lightsaber. One with a gold blade.

  • The granddaughter part explains where she gets her powers but doesn’t explain how she gained her level of mastery in the force.

  • Biology ("blood") determines the strength of one's connection to the Force, and one's potential as a Force User. Her level of mastery came from the fact that Luke trained Leia (implied in Last Jedi, but stated explicitly in RoS), and then Leia trained Rey.

  • Ah. Forgot about that part.

  •
This, although it could have done with some forshadowing.
It was foreshadowed. Its why she was having visions of sitting upon the Sith Throne. Why she's lashing out in Fear and Anger. Why---when she touches the Sith "Wayfinder"---she has a vision of herself as a Sith Lord wielding a dual-bladed (red) lightsaber. Which is a nod to Exar Kun----one of the most feared Sith Lords in history. So there were lots of clues that she had a strong connection to the Dark Side of the Force...and why Luke was unwilling to train her in The Last Jedi.

  • I meant in Episodes 7 & 8. The lashing out in fear and anger is also a quality Kylo shares (and Anakin before him). I wouldn't say Luke's refusal to train her was forshadowing as much as a retcon on J. J. Abrams' part of Rian Johnson's intended direction.

  •
I meant in Episodes 7 & 8.
Again, it was. 1. The fact that Rey was abandoned on a planet that was the last major battle of the Galactic Rebellion. 2. The fact that both Han and Leia seem to know her. 3. The fact that she and Kylo Ren seem to have a unique connection in the Force. 4. The fact that she has an extremely powerful connection in the Force. 5. The fact that Luke is terrified at the prospect of training her....and accuses her of "going straight for (The Dark Side)" in his few halting efforts to expose her to training. The story arcs of Rey and Ben/Kylo were (imo) one fo the few aspects of the story that Episode 9 handled with any credibility. I believe its because it was one of the few areas of the plot that WEREN't ret-conned. The problem is that the rest of the movie felt rushed....and Abrams wound up having to state SPECIFICALLY a number of things what Rian Johnson either implied, or dealt with through visual story telling. But the question of Rey's bloodline has been an issue since Episode 7, and the realization that she was a descendant of one of the most powerful Sith Lords to ever live finally made her Force Vision in Episode 8 finally make sense. When she confronted the Dark Side....and asked it who her parents were..... ...and she was presented with an endless series of her own reflections, that emerge from Darkness.

  • That and another multitude of issues would have been resolved if JJ directed all three films

That’s probably why a lot of things in the newest ones seemed rushed and random. If J.J directed all three he would have had been able to slowly build up to palpatines return and all of that good stuff.
