[spoiler]I dunno, he did the healing thing on someone who'd only recently "died" and didn't have much life left himself maybe that's why it killed him. I feel like if she'd been dead a few weeks it wouldn't have worked. [/spoiler]

She used her life force to save his life, an ability I assume she only had because she's related to Palpatine who got the power from Plagueis. I think of him saving her life as simply returning her life force to her before she fully passed on.[/spoiler]
