If you read through description of the perk, it says it increases progress for "the season pass exotic catalyst quest," which means the Symmetry quest. The Vow was last season, so the boosters this season don't apply. You do get progress now just for doing activities, you don't need Eriana:s equipped, so there's that.

Ya, it is VERY nice that they changed it so for both you don't need to have them equipped to gain progress. It's just very annoying the shear amount of activities needed to get either on done. I'm at 279/400 for The Vow and 36/400 for Symmetry Remastered... which mean at least 91 more strikes for Symmetry and 121 for The Vow...

It won't help for the Vow, but at rank 22 you get a 4x progress booster. I doubt it stacks with the 2x, but at least it will cut that number in half for Symmetry.
