Wrong. Destiny is NOT a game for everyone. Trying to make a game for everyone will only make it a game for no one. Games need to specify in a certain audience to succeed. Bungie originally tried the casuals, but they let them down. Now they're trying the hardcore community.

  • I agree, but also disagree. There should at least be some variation in the game across activites. They really should just separate pve and pvp. Just standardize damage, weapons, etc. across the board

  • Gotcha. I'd just hate to see it turned into fortnite or overwatch. No pve or put on back burner altogether. Same goes other way with pvp. Hate to see them stop doing anything with it. All imo

  • I hate seeing forums posts that suggest dropping an activity for the sake of the other. One of Destiny's strengths is that it has many different ways to play, and none of them are really abandoned by the developers. I guess some people will say they abandoned PvP now that the next season seems to have less of that, but they'll come back to it eventually. They always do. I personally think separating balance between activities is the wrong approach though. Every time a developer does that, they usually forget about the one that's less popular. I believe that having consistency between PvE and PvP is part of the reason why neither has been dropped.

  • I've always been in the separate the two boat. That's a super good point! Games seem to forget one altogether once they separate the two. I like all the variety as well. Fine tune it some more, but I enjoy most of it for most part.

  • Actually it was catering to the hardcore crowd that almost killed D2. Moving to a more casual friendly format in Shadowkeep has brought the franchise back from the brink.

  • LMAO! You're wrong in so many ways. Where do I start with this? First off, Shadowkeep isn't really any more casual than Forsaken was. if anything, it's less casual friendly. Many of the systems were made more complex, and leveling up to max power is much more difficult. Secondly, Shadowkeep has more players because Destiny is now free. That's an obvious one. And lastly, Destiny 2 was never close to dying in year 2. That was year 1, where the player count dropped below 300k for a solid month.

  • It was toned down in part because people complained about grind. That was one of the main reasons why people stopped playing Destiny 1, so Bungie changed it. I believe that they just thought they might as well focus more on competitive PvP if they weren't going to make PvE challenging anymore. Even still, that's completely irrelevant. We're talking about PvE, and whether or not it should be designed for the hardcore/streamer population. I say that it should, because it failed when it was catered to casuals. What caused the casual state of PvE is not the point. the point is that it was in fact easy and tried to be inclusive to all players no matter the playtime.

  • PvE endgame has never been geared to casual in D2. In fact it been pretty consistent. What has been inconsistent is the reward for time played.

  • Hitting max lvl isn’t endgame. Hasn’t been since D1 year 1. The free raid gear for doing nothing was stupid but it wasn’t part of endgame.

  • Grinding to hit max power is one of the main objectives. Of course that's the endgame. Getting raid loot is also a main objective of many players, making that part of the endgame as well.

  • No min/maxing is end game in Destiny not lvling. The the clan engram raid gear didn’t give the raid perks on the gear so it was a joke.
