This argument only works if you completely ignore and/or misrepresent atheists actual arguments. Nice strawman though.
Edit:
I have not seen god therefore he doesn't exist is and empirical statement.
I’m gonna fix this for you:
I have not seen evidence or rational justification to demonstrate the truth of the claim that a god exists. Therefore the claim has not met its burden of proof and I am not rationally justified in accepting it. I have not made any empirical truth statements about god’s existence myself. I just don’t think there is sufficient justification to accept the theists truth statement that god exists.

Not everyone thinks of that argument the same way as you though

The view you’re portraying is a completely dumbass illogical strawman version of atheism that I’m not sure actually exists. I don’t think I’ve seen any atheists say that they personally haven’t seen god therefore it’s an empirical fact that he doesn’t exist. If you want to argue against atheism, argue against their best arguments rather than their stupidest ones (or ones they didn’t even make).

Z, I hate to do this, but yeah, there are quite a few of them that I have met that use that argument. Mind you, they are not exactly the brightest bulbs, but still, it does get used by people claiming to be atheists. To be clear, I personally do not care if people believe in the Flying Spaghetti Monster or in the great Zilch, just so long as they are good people and not trying to convert me to their way, but some folks on all sides have some of the most ignorant reasons for why they believe the way they do. It sometimes makes me wonder how they are smart enough to breathe.......

Sure there are dumb atheists and dumb theists - no arguments there. I just don’t think it’s a particularly accurate representation of what most atheists believe.

It isn't, but that also wasn't HoTh's goal either. He took what a select few have said, and he did clarify this was not representing all of them, and used it to make this interesting connection. He is pulling a Krishna here. It is not about the FET or atheists, it is about saying, "Hey, think about this!" and challenging folks to a thought experiment, but knowing most folks would just go for the bait. Most the true atheists I have met, they are more like you. They are not treating it like a religion & trying to convert folks. They do enjoy discussing the idea of religion in an abstract way with friends they know are not going to be assholes about it and they are usually very intelligent and nice folks. So don't worry Hoss, HoTh isn't attacking ya'll, he is just using a select few from his experience to highlight a simple thought experiment and troll at the same time.

Edited by SuperJohnJohn: 11/6/2019 4:48:00 AMIt exists, I’ve met very many people who can only offer that argument when pressed. I think it is a very dumb argument. Like I said, not all atheists ascribe to the claim I am addressing. It was actually the first thing I said in this post. I also am not trying to disprove atheism either, just the argument described in my post The title itself was just click bait
