I guess that makes sense given it’s accessible nature & wide appeal, but I feel that title should’ve gone to a Street Fighter game or Tekken.

How was Smash 4 better exactly?

Maybe it’s because of the time it came out around my life, but while Ultimate has arguably more content, I find Smash 4 has more replayability. Trophies, Smash Run, Randomised Classic Mode, Free Online. While Ultimate does have that content, I feel that once I finished World Of Light & unlocked every character, the game didn’t grip me for nearly as long as 4 did. Also while having every single character in one game is cool, I feel that Smash 4 had the perfect roster size, giving enough variety, but not overwhelming you with a billion characters. Another problem with having every character is that you also inevitably get all the filler (Pichu, Young Link), not to say that 4 didn’t have this problem, but just had it to a lesser extent.

A lot of the echoes have actually been changed to be significantly different than their base characters. Like, Link and Young Link are barely similar now. But other than that I kinda agree on the replayability thing. I do miss Smash Run. But the stage builder in Ultimate kinda helps with that. The game also just feels better to play. There also isn’t a small amount of broken characters that dictate the meta anymore. Overall it’s better imo.
