But having certain weapons be the top meta for both pve and pvp, and top tier skill to obtain them means that many players will never have those weapons.
And don't get me wrong, I prefer weapons requiring time investment to obtain them. And even some skill. But having Recluse tied to a high glory rank, prior to the glory floors being added with Shadowkeep, made getting it a huge pain point for many players.
If it was only top tier in pvp, I would see no issue, but it became a must have for top tier pve play as well. And many in this community hate pvp, so that created a lot of overall frustration, I feel.
The change/elimination of pinnacle to ritual, is just a good example of how Bungie does actually listen to player feedback. They heard the player's frustrations and made changes accordingly, imo.
And since, we haven't actually played using the new system, I think we should try and be patient, and at least see what the overall community reaction is to the new system, prior to passing judgment.

I see you on the concern of certain weapons reigning supreme in both categories of the game. My problem with it comes in the fact that they have the ability to change up how a weapon plays in terms of nerfs. Bungie seems to do a pretty good job in watching out for weapons to nerf, although it may be very unpopular at times. They even made those emblems for Lord of Wolves and Prometheus Lens when they were overpowered. What I ask for is that the system of pinnacle weapons don't be taken away because of how interesting it was to include such a unique perk/weapon into the game each season. While playing strikes/crucible/gambit, you can see people changing how they play to either chase these weapons or accomodate them in the space. That's a great way to change the game season to season. However, you're definitely right in that I havent played with ritual weapons yet so I can't be too mad about it yet. It'll probably end up feeling about the same in the end with curated rolls. All I have right now is my opinion on pinnacles, how they play, and how they affect the game.
