Hello. Was this on Xbox? Your characters there are only missing exotics that are acquired through raids and quests, or were introduced with the annual pass content, none of which can be received from Fated Engrams.
You can purchase exotics for a different class directly from Xûr, but engrams in general will always give you gear for your current class.

I just looked at my collections (102/122) and for weapons am missing 7 labeled Unknown and Rat King, which I know is a mission. I have all Titan Armor and am missing I think one Hunter piece. I have about half warlock armor and I don’t even have a warlock. So I guess if I want to keep collecting I need to make a warlock or wait until Shadowkeep for more exotics.
