Ben kept getting banned and it made him feel unwanted and like the Ninjas here were targeting him. I spoke with dmbfan09 about it months ago and suggested that maybe a new approach was needed to how these things are handled. I was worried that eventually something might happen, but I did not want to sound melodramatic.
Also, just to be clear, this is not a witch hunt. Dmbfan09 was very clear that it is Bungie that decides how to handle these things and they have to follow those rules. If any change was to take place, it would be Bungie that would have to make the change. It kind of fizzled out there, because I have no idea how to get Bungie to talk to us about these things.
I just wish people were able to see the Ben I saw and I wish that I knew him better.
I just wish people were able to see the Ben I saw and I wish that I knew him better.
I hope so too, and once you get to know some users they can actually surprise you. It really makes me happy that you tried to reason with Dmbfan09 on the point of his banning, I don't know the exact reason for the banning beyond him posting the same song in several forums.
-
Yup and Ben did not even realize that was an issue. Hell most users have no clue. The basic CoC is stupidly vague and then, come to find out 3 years into being on this site, there is an extended CoC that a lot of users had no idea about. I think we have a truly great group of people here and I think that if the Ninjas simply PM'ed them or edited the users post/reply and said, "Hey Hoss, this breaks the CoC and here is how & why, so edited it and am giving you notice to be careful about that & if you have any questions, hit me up in PM and we can go over it in depth", I think they would find a lot of folks would comply and those that don't, well, they made their bed......
-
It certainly would clear a lot of things up for sure. I just wish that ninjas would explain a bit more as to why they got banned. I don't know, just my thoughts on the matter.
-
I agree completely. It would be awesome if they posted for us a thing stating a user caught a ban & this was the exact reason why.
-
Agree, there can be more efficient ways of dealing with breaking the coc than just banning them.
-
Yup. I understand their time is volunteered, but I do think that in some areas, not The Salt Mines, but the areas where we are a tiny bit more sentient, they could talk to us and end up making their jobs easier in regards to us
-
Agreed completely, especially in terms of us being different than the salt mine.
-
See, I can understand that heavy handedness there, since most of them do not seem to truly care, but here, where we do care, it seems like overkill.
-
Yep, seems a little unnecessary since most of us listen to each other.
-
Exactly! And if you know that certain users are willing to listen and correct their behavior, then all you have to do is focus on the idiots who want to do the same shit.
-
Precisely, so much time and effort could be solved if they just reason with some people.
-
Yup. A little extra effort now means less effort later!
-
Words to live by, most people need to be reminded of words like that.
-
No kidding!
-
I never saw any ban worthy posts from him, what was the reasoning?
-
One time he posted a song several times, spamming the forum. Most folks do not know that you can not post the same thing in multiple places. He caught a month for that. Another time he had just gotten off of a ban and within 2 minutes of his first post, it was taken down and he was banned for another month. I never saw that one, so no idea. I don't know beyond that. What I do know is, he was getting popped constantly while folks who started real shit with others were playing in this sub-forum daily and getting reported constantly.
-
So those ninjas were constantly targeting him? Like banning him for the smallest reasons?
-
Yeah, pretty much. He farted and he was banned. In their defense though, once you get on their radar, they pay more attention to you.

Do you know why he was banned?
-
Quite discriminatory if you ask me.
-
Well, once you start getting banned, they keep a better eye on you, since you show you are a trouble maker. I can understand that, not that I agree, just that I understand.
-

It's easy to wonder about the ninjas targeting you... I've received bans for legal posts on more than one occasion. It's also easy to feel unwanted here, given the amount of salt and the number of trolls. I'm sorry that these things happened to Ben.
