Crucible is widely regarded as an unbalanced, unenjoyable mess. If you're not going to fix it, STOP MAKING IT A QUEST REQUIREMENT

Everything that needs to be said about the atrocity that is Crucible has been said many times before, but it falls on deaf ears. My point is simply: [b]If Bungie doesn't care about Crucible and is just going to pretend it doesn't exist, then stop making it a quest requirement so I can do the same. [/b]

    I think i see the issue with the OP. Seems like they are a bit of a PvE specialist. It seems to me that players who specialise in PvE generally hit the light cap before PvP players do and they can't wait for Iron Banner so they can jump in a 6 stack (i know right? 6 stacks in quickplay or Iron Banner tell you all you need to know about their skill level or more appropriately their lack of [b]ANY[/b] pvp skill) and try and pub stomp lower level randoms. During this time the PvE specialist will not moan about PvP and experiences a false sense of security and believe that despite their sub overall 0.75 KD that they can handle themselves. Then one of these quests to get a gun requires some headshots in PvP or something and Iron Banner isn't currently active. They choose rumble because they want to get it done fast. This is where the dream falls apart for them. They've never killed a guardian without 2 - 5 other guardians holding their hands but it can't be that hard right? Game after game they get smoked, and are constantly bottom of the table. Frustration builds, they're scared, the power fantasy is gone. They come to the forums looking for support. Maybe even ask their clan mates for upvotes. Bungie needs to hear what they have to say about PvP.     • I couldn't agree more. Crucible is fun for the one guy at the top of the leader board every match, the guy with 30 or more kills when no one else has more than 15-or-20. Why wouldn't that be fun? I can promise you, every one of the people using their variations of the tired, BS "git gud" argument, are in that minority. But for everyone else, it's cancer. And there is a simple solution: skill-based matchmaking. The reason crucible is getting sweatier and sweatier is simple: More and more of the rest of us won't play it. And it's a shame, because crucible used to be fun. And if they'd actually have skill-based matchmaking, it would be. Sure, the sweats will start whining again like they did in D1 - remember when grenades didn't suck? - but when you're making everyone else quit playing, just so Joe Streamer can get his 40 kills a match, that's simply not sustainable. Fewer and fewer people play crucible at all. Eventually there will be nothing but sweats left. All the cannon fodder will be gone. So it's gonna happen either way. Might as well at least make the game enjoyable for everyone. Git gud, Bungie. Fix this mess.

        • Matchmaking is just laughably -blam!-ed. They clearly dont give a god damn so why the hell should we? Only reason theyre going free to play is because they think theyll make more money off of their 13 year old fan boy playerbase. They dont give a -blam!-, play something worth your time.

        • I think it’s fine. The real problem is Matchmaking and Teams vs Solos. Teams tip the balance too far. Bring back Freelance so we can avoid teams all together in QP.

          • yea i hate that i have to do 40 strikes for a service revolver too only to use it in pvp, they should stop MAKING QUESTS THAT INVOLVE PVE FOR WEAPONS TO USE IN PVP!!

            • Tbh I think crucible would be better without supers. They are so strong right now that the only counters are certain heavy weapons and your own super. I actually enjoy crucible when it comes to actual gunfights, but get frustrated when it's constant ability and super spam.

                • Bungie is trying to solve their short term needs of keeping player numbers up so that Crucible works. But Bungie needs to rebuild Crucible from the ground up. It is a five-year long FAILED experiment of trying to run PVP that is attached to a loot game, as if it were an e-sport ready competitive shooter. Its also a failed experiment in trying to force a game where players are some of the fastest moving characters in shooter games.....to have one of the slowest primary weapon TTKs in shooter games. This paradigm is not working....it is NEVER going to work....and trying to force it to work has taken a Crucible that had a spark of something unique and enjoyable....and turned it into a bad copy of everyone else. They either need to seperate the pvp and pve sandboxes like every other MMO does.....or they need to stop pretending that PVP is a game of skill...and treat it as the power game/build-strength game that it is in reality.

                  • I disagree. I thoroughly enjoy crucible. For me it’s a great pvp experience. I don’t play meta and I’m only average skill level. I’m not hating on your comment, I just disagree with the premise.

                      I disagree. I play this games pve for pvp gear, I run solo comp each season for the pinnacle. Crucible is the only thing in this game with any replay value. If you want to shoot the same drew for the thousandth time and find it enjoyable - cool. For me and other real gamers I’ll stick with pvp.

                    • They are. They said crucible will get love in Shadowkeep. They acknowledged that they made a mistake by ignoring it in favor of the season pass content. There are bigger problems than people seem to realize. The maps were all made for 4v4 and a double-primary loadout. This isn’t something that can be fixed by tuning some weapons or the ammo economy. Also, matchmaking will always be broken until it prioritizes sbmm and THEN cbmm. Prioritizing cbmm means dick if there aren’t any players, and average players aren’t playing because they get stomped every game. Why can’t we have sbmm prioritized? Because streamers don’t want all of their games to be sweaty... they want to stomp on people for their streams. Cool.

                    • only complaint I have, is comp triumph. I've gone legend once...doing that 2 more times for the triumph is too time consuming. I have a life lol...but I guess that unbroken title is for people that should have NOLIFE hovering over their head. They should stop the whole losing points for losses imo...just don't award points for losses. All the comp I've done and I'll never get unbroken title due to that insane requirement of getting Legen 3 times in 3 separate seasons. I assume I'd have to get that this season before the next season (if there is a next season)

                        • In it's current form, Crucible is a liability to the game. I don't think, however, that Bungie knows how to fix it. Scrapping and rebuilding won't work simply because noone knows how it should work properly.

                        • I hate the retirements my self, I think crusible it as worse as it has ever been. But if I'm being honest it's not that hard. Most of the quests that aren't strictly crusible based but have PVP as requirements are easy. Just time consuming.

                        • As far as I'm concerned there is nothing wrong with Crucible except it needs a few adjustments to matchmaking and new maps that cater to Snipers instead of shotguns. But I'm tired of people complaining about it endlessly. I love dominating other people in Crucible but it took years of practice to be as good as I am and I know there are people out there more skilled than myself such as those who have Not Forgotten but that doesn't bug me at all in fact some times the only challenging end-game for me is to play against some one better and strive to some day reach their level of skill. I honestly feel most of the "issues" are just people being sore losers who want participation trophies who are mad at whatever the current meta is, but that's just how Bungie runs their PvP we will always have a meta even though it may change again and again over the years and if your skilled enough to win with out using what the meta is more power to you but most players are going to use it, no matter how cheap it is or how little skill it takes to fire a Jotun at a control zone.

                        • I really don't mind quickplay. Though I haven't tried comp yet but my matches arent usually laggy and most of the time I enjoy crucible. I don't even have to use meta stuff at the moment. I feel like I can use a variety of weapons and still have fun and do well. Might be an unpopular opinion but it's mine nonetheless.

                          Only thing bad about it is the weakness of Autos and Scouts BUT both are known to be behind some very unbalanced metas soooo. Edit: This is not to say that they should not receive a buff in PvE.

                          • I hate the Crucible. It is never about skill, it’s about using whatever BS is OP at the time and killing way too fast and being impossible to kill. Those who focus Crucible will say it’s fun because they have that BS and know how to use it, while the rest of us who mainly play PvE are forced to play for quests or bounties. The trouble isn’t a few balance issues with gear or abilities to work out, it’s that the system is flawed as at its core. They designed a really good PvE game where different classes offer a variety of diverse abilities that work well together, and have a gear system that lets you collect great armor and weapons, and exotics with unique interesting perks, then they said “okay now use all that against each other.” You cannot do that and have it balanced. Certain abilities are just too good against other players. Certain guns are just too good against players. Gambit was a cool idea but then everybody quickly learned what weapons are unbeatable for invading and now it’s all about what weapon can one-shot people from a distance. I think Destiny PvE is beautifully designed and works great, but once you pit the classes and gear against one another you get frustrating metas, and forcing players who don’t even like that part of the game to do specific tasks only makes it worse. Crucible is sometimes bearable when I’m just playing to play matches, but when I play for a quest it’s usually like “get kills with void hand cannons” so I have to restrict my loadout to fit that and I’m now at a disadvantage in fighting. I want less quests to require specific PvP actions, since Crucible will never change enough that people won’t be miserable to play it.
