Casual: a person who does something irregularly:
"a number of casuals became regular customers”
Casual gamer: *can only be defined by urban dictionary: “A person who plays games but aren't competitive. Usually they are just there to be social and have fun but if they end up losing in the game they wouldn't mind. They don't put in a lot of effort to try to win.”
With your example, there too many variants to back up your claim.
A raid is a 6 person activity.
Comp is a 4 person activity.
Kind of hard to call out A player for being A casual if they do not have the team to play said activities.
Ie they can be hardcore solo players that intelligently avoids the headaches of lfg.
They also may not like the competitive aspect of comp.
Ie a hardcore pve player. Just like a hardcore pvp player.
“Casuals” to me, are the players that just play because.. their friends play said game but do not really care about the finite details of a game. Destiny being a good example. Do they care about their builds, the meta weapons, the team synergy etc.. Ie are they casual, or do they dive deep into the game that rewards the aspect that keeps them coming back.

A casual is someone who gets the game for Christmas or at launch, plays the campaign and some strikes and crucible for like a month and then let's the game collect dust. You're not a casual if you are still playing D2 at this stage in its lifespan. That is not to say there aren't different levels of 'hardcore' players. Some like to mess around and just obliterate ads for fun. Some play QP or are sweats in Comp. Some are hoarders who are out for the collectibles. Some (myself included) are avid raiders who enjoy the game at its most complex and difficult. What type of player you are doesn't, to me, dictate hardcore or not. How much time you invest into the game is the difference between being casual or not.

those arent players of destiny 2, casuals or hardcore, because they do not play the game at all (lets the game collect dust) How can someone be even casual, if he doesnt play at all?

This necessitates that they buy and play the game at some interval or another. Because they've played it and own it, they must be classified. You can't not classify them, nor say they don't play, because they have and will likely revisit at some interval. Let's take an example. Call of Duty for instance. A hardcore player would play the game more than any other game they own. This doesn't necessitate that they are the best or that they play all of the modes. They simply invest a majority of their 'hobby' time playing that particular game. Same for Fortnite, Apex, Final Fantasy, etc. I would be a casual CoD player, because I hop on MWR maybe once every two weeks or so for a few matches. I play it casually. However, Destiny I play 3 or so times a week and have invested many many hours into it. There is nothing casual about it. Perhaps, if it's easier, we can talk about relationships. What one might consider a casual relationship is one which you do see the other person, but it's variable and doesn't necessitate considerable time investment. A, let's say serious relationship, indicates a high level of investment in the other person. Perhaps yourself and your significant other prefer to stay in and spend time together and would rather not go out for dinners and on traditional dates. Because you prefer one activity to the other doesn't make your relationship any less serious than a couple that chooses to spend time together in other ways. I hope my analogies help you understand the point that I'm making.
