The rain flooded the mountains like the very gates of Heaven had opened. It covered the rocks, soaking them beyond imagination. It drenched poor Jade and Mirage, making them miserable. But it had no effect on Ronin’s determination to climb the peak.
It’s your job as a writer to make the reader imagine it. Saying it’s beyond imagination is saying that the reader shouldn’t even bother trying to picture it. That’s the opposite of what you want.
Again, the imagery could be stronger in this part as well. Character traits and moods like that are infinitely more effective if they’re implied, not directly, dryly stated.
If you can build an interesting narrative you shouldn’t have to rely on getting support from sign-up posts.

Edited by Ronin: 6/14/2019 4:19:01 PMI know the imagery could be better, but do I really care about a lead-up to the actual story? Not really. Of course you’re right, but the purpose of this post was to get other people to create the side characters of the story and do all the hard work for me. I didn’t really care about writing the story super well, I just wanted to get the point across and do the setup required to get this going.

You shouldn’t have to pander so blatantly to get people involved.
