<Well, every encounter in the Leviathan raid involves Psions or psionic abilities. The only ability out of the ordinary during the Calus fight was the Nightmare Realm but Calus outright said that the Councilors maintained it.>

Maintained his nightmare realm. Does not mean made it and they could be a conduit as calus is not in our solar system. The real one.

It probably is. The other possibility is that this is the first concept for one of his attacks he uses in the encounter. Like when he gets an overshield or when he puts you into the psion realm.
