I don’t think it has to do with cannibalization. Asher Mirs Ghost has a red eye too, modified by the Vex when he was unconscious in the pyramidion, it too had tech added to it. So it would seem it’s more of an adjustable setting that requires some tinkering to unlock. The whole spectrum thing harkens back to the [i]original[/i] leaked storyline. That the Traveler was the source of both. This is just a modified version of that baseline. While it may not be the source it would seem the new storyline has the raw [i]power[/i] of the two sides being similar. Just different flavors based on the “source”. Which would explain how a Guardian, like Yor,could transition from Light to Dark without a conduit to the Dark. The only way Ghosts could access both is if they were similar to a degree. What’s more telling in that regard is [i]that a Ghost knew it could access the Dark power[/i]. That tells me...they know a lot they aren’t sharing with us.
