At some point, I think we (certainly, I) have to realise that this is not our game. It's Bungie's, and Bungie will do what they are wont to do. Is this truly a new world where studios develop games in tandem with their audience(s)? I'm not sure. some signs point hat way. With the advent of the much more open communication channels via social media, players are able to speak with a louder voice than they used to via email, or reaching back further, snail mail directly to the publisher or magazine or by telephone. However, larger IP, juggernaut IP may not be able to support such feedback and rapid change. I'm not sure Bungie can or even want to make this game with their communities, and we may have to accept that, whether that means continuing to play, leaving it altogether, or something in-between (which is where I am, now). You've been to the summit. It's not really for feedback. At best, Bungie are after confirmation bias. They pick out what they want to hear. These summits are about pushing what's in the pipeline. They're listening. I'm betting there's a whole lot of "yeah, but..." left unspoken from the Bungie side of the summit comvos. There is a culture at Bungie that remains unbroken, and Destiny will not be the IP that changes they way they work.

 • This is "art" in a nutshell. To be honest I really dislike the modern era where people feel entitled to having it their way. On the one hand its great to be able to provide feedback and im sure a lot of the time they do listen and get inspiration from peoples posts but...it is THEIR game. Its an art form as much as it is a product to make money. Where are the days when people could just not buy a game if they dont like it. I dont recall ever going to a forum to complain about a song I didn't like because it's the artists song, not mine. If an artist doesn't like their own work then the art form is dead. Me liking it and buying it is a bonus. Same can be said with movies, anime, comics, games, paintings, music and whatever else. Yes its become a busieness thats out to appeal to many people in order to make money - but its an art form in its most basic element, and if you dont like it, thats fine: dont buy it.

 • If you've ever been to a workshop (especially a writer's workshop), you're familiar with the type of feedback Bungie are getting in their summits. It's up to the writer to take in all that feedback and do what they will with it (or nothing at all). I never workshop, anymore. They're usually filled with hacks.

 • I have, and you're right. I do music production and study game sound design at the moment and I have been to multiple studios and thats exactly it. You simply cannot and should not listen to the thousands of screaming voices telling you this is wrong and this is wrong. Its your art and you have to do what you think is best, even if it isnt the best. Criticism is completely fine, but at the end of the day its up to the creator to implement it. There are just so many issues with "the community wants this" posts in the modern age. What if the creator wants it to be a certain way? Are they wrong for wanting to only appeal to a certain niche? Are raids bad for example because they only get played by a smaller percent of the player base? I dont think so, not at all, its the reason i play destiny in the first place. So am I a bad person for wanting that experience? Imagine trying to deal with tons of people telling you what to do when I bet the 800 or so people at Bungie have different opinions on how to do things, its a very, VERY hard art form and business to upkeep at this large of a scale. You want to make money to continue to develop and support the game, but at what cost? What if no one at Bungie feels happy making a particular element of the game, even if a lot of people are asking for it. Are they duty bound to do as we ask? No. At the end of the day its their product, if you dont like it the only thing you can do is make constructive criticism in the most polite way possible and if your opinions dont align with the devs intentions, then you'll have to stop playing and stop buying the game.
