Next statement, which I feel more than obliged to deliver as my first major post on these forums was on the subject of Dredgen Yor, it’s made clear that Yor was not some visionary. He did not walk down Sorrows Road in an attempt to harness the Dark.
He fell down Sorrows Road because he was weak of mind. The hero he once was was plagued by doubt, that he could not face the next threat of humanity. That he would be overcome. This fear drove him down the road to confronting the Hive alone, and when he defeated the hulking knight his shallow pride made him graft its bones to his prized hand cannon as a trophy.
Dredgen Yor is more worthy of our pity than our admiration.

Very true. I was more so referring to the way the Shadows of Yor thought about him and themselves. They clearly tried to tempt the Darkness, without falling for it.

Which they utterly failed to do. Which leads to the question of why do we and the Drifter seem to lack this consequence?
-
I think we can answer that: Drifter knows what he’s dealing with, isn’t powerhungry and has a plan. The way Shin talked about us, I think our Light is just so strong, combined with our “hero” persona, that we can resist the pull.

I believe it’s a little bit more than that in regards to the Drifter, and it may be linked to using the Taken instead of the Hive as your base.
