Sorry apprently people like you still don't know the difference between fanfic and making a backstory and lore for a characters that was created by someone else.
Example we created out guardians not bungie.
The only thing bungie did was make a not story that has going through a game collecting gear that feeds backstory and lore on characters that never make an appearance or have little impact on the game as a whole.
Another example if people like osiris and so on were still alive we should have been sent on missions/story that has us trying to find them some they could deal with atheon and all the big baddies we took out.
Also you expect me to believe that the thousands or so players that make three characters each all started in the same place and are going through the same story which makes no sense at all because that means they all have the same accomplishments and feats of strength and reslove.
So I'm sorry what you consider fanfic is what people like me consider backstory and lore on created characters.
Because said created characters have zero backstory and lore on them which in turn allows the creators which is us to make there story and lore.
So stop trying to down play someone's creativity into what it's not.

Edited by BioCats: 1/21/2019 8:34:45 PMUm... what does this have to do with anything discussed here in this post? It’s about properly using the forums for the benefits of the community, not the contents within Fanfiction posts. Are you saying that people’s backstories for their characters are somehow overriding your player character’s story? That makes little sense to me as most characters arn’t the Guardian, much like how everyone else’s Guardians that you encounter in game arn’t overriding your story either. They’re just some other person living in the same universe as you are. I’m honestly more confused then anything, and if possible I would like a little more clarification for what exactly your point is. Regardless, thank you for your time.

Because fanfic as it is seen especially in this light is actually backstory and lore on created characters. I understand if someone made a post talking about saving cayde or something like that yes it's fanfiction. But if you like me you were making posts about your created guardians giving them a better backstory and lore. I created four posts about it but they are no longer in my favorites post list so I can no longer access them and I I can I don't know how to. But I'm clearfiy what constitutes fanfic to what someone ones up with for a characters that has no backstory or lore on them in the first place.

Ah, so you’re talking about using the terminology of “Fanfiction” to describe stories that don’t technically warrant that title. I decided to use it for the sake of clarification for the audience’s sake. Most people consider Fanfiction to be “all fiction made by the fans”, so I used that word to describe fan-writing in general because then everyone instantly knows what I’m talking about. The purpose of this post is to try and help people with the upcoming mass immigration of writers, so clarification is rather important to ensure everyone’s on the same page. Thank you for your time.
