I will forever consider streamers nothing more than digital prostitutes..... their income method is no different than any hooker on the street.
However, they're not FULLY to blame for what Bungie did with D2 and the mistakes. They're a small part of it, but not the main reason.
Double primaries wasn't their fault entirely. Bungie took their desire too far with the initial gun system.
Masterworks are not their fault entirely. Bungie could have tweaked the infusion system differently in a way that didn't reward hoarders..........as opposed to making it difficult for everyone to upgrade equipment.
Niobe labs was just bad design. From no checkpoints, to the expectation that people would brute force guess the solutions to the puzzles. They tried to mimic Outbreak Prime, but in the end they over thought the puzzle into the most obscure methods of solving it.

Well if what they’re doing is legal then what’s the issue with it? Tbh I don’t know why people watch streamers or donate but to each their own.
-
Yeah, I've never gotten the point of this. I don't watch people play a video game. I play them.
-
You should see how many female streamers have turned to ASMR in a vain attempt to make a living as a streamer. It's pretty sad considering how many of them said originally that they would never stoop so low as to do ASMR for a living,
-
That’s pretty drastic to call someone who entertains for a living a prostitute. Sounds like you’re bitter
-
And what do you think prostitutes do? Entertain paying customers and living off tips for pimping themselves out for money. What makes a streamer any different from a webcam whore? One plays with a mouse & key and the other a vibrator?
-
Than what makes them different than a comedian? Also nothing wrong with sex work to be honest, just weird that you seems to have a hard time letting people live how they want to live.

Edited by JLoco11: 1/10/2019 2:23:31 PMYou can always spot a big tipper when they defend a streamer! And someone not smart enough to understand business models when they compare comedians. For starters, comedians don't receive tips on how they are paid. A business will pay them for their time, and then collect on the performer at the gate price. Do you see comedians telling jokes on a street corner with a jar asking for money directly? No, they go to comedy clubs, Netlfix, PPV specials & movies with a production company. That's a B2B tax model. Second, you seem to denigrate the sex industry, because I said I consider them digital prostitutes. Not scum, not assholes........ but YOU want to infer that as a negative after I point out that they are no different than a camwhore. Notice, you can't even refute that point. You just immediately assume someone is bitter because you have no actual argument to prove streamers are no different than camwhores
-
Ok what about the streamers who work on slave jobs like the rest of us? You sound like a hater you act like they're selling drugs or something
-
Edited by EXALTEDoreo: 1/10/2019 6:06:38 PMNever really tipped tbh. I honestly don’t watch destiny streamers, not my cup of tea. I like to watch people like Mang0, got to support the melee community. I don’t know man. “Hooker on the street” “camwhore” is pretty diminishing, but maybe that’s just me. Honestly streamers have a way better gig than someone like a comedian (though I don’t know what comedy clubs you’ve been to, but people for sure tip good comedians), they get a much larger percentage of the money. It’s still b2b though since the money gets filtered through twitch who take a 2 dollar cut on the 5 dollar sub. I say bitter because hatting streams really doesn’t make a lot of sense. They are entertainers, so unless you hate all entertainers then it really seems odd. They make a pretty damn good living if you have 1.5k subs (4500 a month) you also likely have sponsors, get payment by devs to show case a game. Really seems to be very lucrative. It’s also ball bustingly hard to be “on” for 8 hours.

Again, it's a different business than a comedian. Twitch does not pay people upfront, they take a cut of their earnings before streamers receive them. Twitch doesn't pay them to be in front of an audience, a comedy club does. Netflix does. HBO does...... and after the comedian is paid an agreed rate for the performance, the club/host take their cut. Low level comedians might accept tips. But do you think people tip Seinfeld? Kevin Hart? Most comedy clubs charge patrons a 2 drink minimum as admission. Aside from amateur night, comedians usually setup LLC's for tax purposes. Overwhelming majority of streamers cannot have an LLC with Twitch because they're not popular enough to do so. Twitch is essentially their pimp, which is why a camwhore comparison is far better than entertainer. Pimps have their hookers do the work, and take a cut of their money after a client pays/tips them. Camwhores have sponsors now, sending toys & lubes for advertisements. And make thousands of dollars in an hour or less. And both sit in front of a camera "performing" for an anonymous voyeur audience. Any way you slice it, a streamer is a digital prostitute, with Twitch as their pimp and far from a comedian who report taxes as an LLC.

Edited by EXALTEDoreo: 1/10/2019 8:02:10 PMThose high end comedians are a massive minority as well though. Same as most streamers arnt ninja or shroud. I still maintain you comparing streaming to sex work is used as a dig at streaming. Given your language choice, I get the sense you are putting them in a lower rung in society.
-
I agree with you. Most people dont realize how hard streamers actually work.
