This is why many players have not returned and never will. It's also why the playerbase will continue to fall until it's back to end of life D1 values.
All the while Bungie do an Apple and continue to ignore the facts in favour of their "Drag everything out" agenda. The Izanami forge unlock quest is an example of the ridiculous level of un-necessary grind that has crept into the game. That unlock quest is a chore and even the streamers have passed on unlocking forges on more than one character. Heck some now only play their mains which should have been more than enough to tell bungie that this crap should have always been account wide!

Sadly I agree. I am trying to force myself to play but, have now started playing Call of Cthulhu and ashen while I wait for Division 2 and Anthem. Timegating anb the dragging dreaming city stuff just chills me when I try to play. I have 7 milestones to do and zero incentive to do them. I don't even have all supers for my hunter ot titan ( I main a loc who is 650 with everything done though)

I only use my 'lock and I'm still on the first forge. I'm in no way, shape or form, looking forward to unlocking the other three.

I unlocked then completed the second forge on my Warlock. I’m not doing that again on my Titan and Hunter. I’m not bothering with the third forge on my Warlock. -
I don't even know what the steps are -- I just see everyone talking about them. I'm 620. I'll attempt the first forge again. And if I beat it, I'll look into the other ones. Niobi Labs better not lock me out for not unlocking all the forges. That'll be some bullshit.

Good luck. I did it last night and it really depends on your team. If everyone is good, it's doable but at 620 you aren't going to be able to carry the team. I was 624 last night doing my first. My friend was 637 I think, and we had a string of random adds who were 620-622. Took 4 attempts but we did get it.

The steps for the second forge were OK, but it was a needless grind. I did them all as a solo player, some randoms helped with the heroic 'freeze the boss' PE on the shore. Admittedly that was after several tries had been trashed by other randoms melting the boss, lol. Sadly, I wouldn't put locking Niobe labs out until the third forge has been completed past Bungie. I hope they don't, but honestly I have little faith in them acting in the 'players interests'. I killed the Vex Minotaur on Nessus (the one at Artifact's Edge) several times and received nothing as I hadn't unlocked that step in the Gofannon Forge quest.
