In the year 2077 the clouds of Nuclear War hung over planet earth. The U.S. had annexed Canada, China has grown into a global communist powerhouse. The European union has collapsed into bickering nation states bent on controlling the Last resources on earth. Shortly before the world ended, a captain in the U.S. army, named Maxson, was sent to protect a group of scientists in California who were working for the President. Along with his commanding officer Maxson and the army were to monitor the progress of the scientists. All was normal at the base until one day, the soldiers discovered that the scientists were using military prisoners as guinea pigs for their FEV. The Forced Evolutionary Virus changed the humans form, mutating irreversibly. It was a horrendous crime of war. Maxson's commanding officer commuted suicide from the discovery of what the government was doing, leaving the charge to Maxson. Maxson made the hard choice to stop the scientists and their unethical behavior. After discovering the extent of the projects from the lead scientist, Maxson court marshalled the scientists for their crimes against humanity. At this point, the rogue group of soldiers were in direct opposition to the U.S. government. Maxson sent out a message to the government stating that he was in open defiance of the them. He had committed treason against them and he knew it. He sadly declared himself on the radio a deserter from the army he had served faithfully for so long.
