Technically, everyone has the content when they install Destiny 2. The license just allows you to access it. As such, there's not really an update to download as you probably already had it.
I would do a Scan and Repair to see if it fixes your launching issue.

I've tried restarting multiple times and I get a buffalo error even though my internet is working fine.

I did it twice to be sure but it doesn't do anything, but I am experiencing some connection issues at the moment, so maybe that messed it up. I'll try again tomorrow
