Well yes because everything needs an answer at some point. Also, your point about Variks perplexes me. We know his goal, we have absolutely no damn idea what or how he’s doing.

  • And, no we don’t. Which is a good part of it! But the story is told in such a linear sense, it leaves it on a simple cliffhanger on what Variks is doing now, which is all we can really do with the story as of now.

  • I mean it’s not exactly like it’s the natural progression of the character, according to his most memorable aspect

  • It isn’t, no, but if, say, we were to remove the Most Loyal book and replace it with only the Warden of Nothing strike, we would still get the same reason of “Variks left, that’s why the Prison opened all the cells”. The Lore book doesn’t really give anything else besides more detail as to why, and no discussion could be had about those details.

  • Except that the Strike reveals nothing of the sorts. All in all, the lore book establishes why Variks left the prison, his ‘betrayal’ of the Reef and how the Fanatic discovered the properties of his Dark Ether. Variks has declared himself a Kell, which we were all only waiting for as he held the Prophecies of Rain in high regard and his reactions as he slowly watched the old Eliksni die. Although they do bring up the House of Wolves prime servitor again, which could come back round to the Elder Cipher in Variks possession. Also he has one of the few Wolves who stayed loyal to the Reef with him. Plenty to speculate about. We also have a REALLY interesting fact, that being that he caused the Prison Riot, which muddies the water and leaves us questioning if we’re going to meet as allies or enemies

  • And it does a good job of it! Just for me, it really didn’t leave any of those questions. Maybe I’m just not very analytical, or I have to read it a couple times to get the full meaning.
