Uldren and Petra were also close. Both had an unwavering devotion to Mara Sov, and actually worked closely together.
In fact, the event that got Petra demoted in the first place was a bombing she ordered on a large group of Fallen with guardians in the proximity. Three fireteams were killed in the process, leading to her demotion.
Prince Uldren was the one who carried out the bombing run.
The reason why she fell head first into her anger was because she felt personally betrayed by Uldren. He had, after all, slaughtered his own people.

That is a nice detail about bombing, even tho as we know she still stayed a natural leader of the surviving Reefborns.. anyway what if anger got over her not that much because of betrayal of their people, but because of betrayal of her? You also agree that they were close, so what if it felt like crushing her ideals about him which lead her to anger and disparity of killing him? He used to be a smart commander and scout who was very inspirational to her, like her mentor, friend, soulmate, he was after all exactly what she wanted to live up to. The fact that the person she shared such a bond with turned against her and against ideals she saw him embodying is what led her to ultimately sign his death. Now she probably regrets it in my opinion and will probably feel guilt over him becoming corrupted, just as she feels guilt over almost everything that happened during her command times.

Soulmate seems unlikely. They were definitely close allies and got along, but it seemed to be in a similar way as the Consensus' Guardians do. Amiable, but purely as comrades.
