D1 had better lore than D2
In the grimiore cards we got a glimpse of the game that could have been if Bungie had been interested in building a world in their game

I think D1 just had more lore, not necessarily lore of better quality. Like some of the lore cards added in forsaken are more detailed, emotional, or better written than a large portion of the grimoire in D1 (IMO). Plus the fact that the lore is in-game with D2 now and I’d say bungie both listened to the community on that and also hired a better lore team.

Well. Books of Sorrow were pretty good. But Marasenna contests “best lore book” title. But the lore in D2 Forsaken is bountiful.

A classic story of hope and revenge however doesn’t compete with the detailed lore of how the awoken were created.

I prefer how Gunslinger was created, but I guess I am a bit biased.

Don’t worry. The story is cool and one of the best. But how Mara Sov created an entire realm. Took control of the awoken. Dude. Marasenna is so juicy and full of information

D2 lore is also IN THE GAME which is a big deal!
