Are you playing Iron Banner by any chance. In IB "power matters" as in power level advantages are enabled so a low lv 20 low power character will be killed easier and take a lot more shots to kill opponents who are up to lv 50 and 600 power. In normal crucible the level advantage system is turned off to allow players to compete at the same levels.
