No. It's fine as is. Everything in this game has a counter.

Edited by Hero: 10/28/2018 11:45:36 PMReally the only counter I can think of for Telesto is a shotgun, but Telesto being a fusion means it is a counter to shotguns, so 7/10 times the shotgunner dies.

There's so many factors with this. Maps, cover, position, player skill, re-spawns, etc. It's just ridiculous to say the weapon is the only factor that matters. It's the only thing you see when you die. Yet, you don't see how many times you have beaten players that are using it.

Oh, I'm aware of the factors. Very much so...
I didn't expect the whole Telesto rant to actually get popular I was honestly just really annoyed in competitive, however, rightfully so. Anyway since the post got this popular I guess I should actually start posting legitimate feedback and reasonable concerns...anyway here's what i said to a few other people...
Honestly I should probably change the title since this has evolved way past Telesto is the besto. Basically I just want the game balanced, I don't care what they nerf, buff, or change to do it. The game is super broken right now, and I guess some people find that fun, I don't.

Edited by blade329: 10/29/2018 2:15:52 PM
Basically, I just want the game balanced....
What does that mean exactly? D2 PvP was "balanced" right out of the gate, and it was pretty much a dismal failure. Why would you want that back in D2? You can get a generic level playing field from many other games out there, who do it better.

First of all I'd rather play Yr 1 of D2 than the current meta any day of the year. It may have been somewhat slow and boring but it had a huge skill gap, which is one of the reasons I think it was so unpopular actually, because trashcans were trashcans and good players were good players. Now I get my ass handed to me by 0.8's who run around with Retold Tale or Telesto the whole time and send me messages because they think they're good. Yr1 of D2 was the most balanced crucible ever was and probably ever will be. If they would've implemented just General TTK changes, maybe weapon slot changes, and the "Go Fast" update, I think it would've been the most fun Destiny PvP ever. The only issue with Yr1 of D2 was 450 auto rifles, I guess teamshotting (not really tho,) and some people thought it was boring. Look how many issues we have now, terrible spawning, way too much power ammo, people maining shotguns, 180 Handcanons OP, Comp is awful, and trust me there's more. So yeah I found Yr1 of D2 much more enjoyable than D2 currently is. It had way more of a skill gap, way more 1v1 engagements, longer TTK (more time to react and make a reversal,) less power ammo (power ammo was something the team fought for control over, now you pick it up in the chaos that is D2's PvP and you almost never know who has it, they need to make it like the D1 system if they're going to do anything, way more weapon variety, (pretty much all I see is, Luna's Howl, Some rare shotgun, Telesto, Shotguns in general, Bygones, and that's pretty much it.) D2 Yr 1 although 450's were slightly OP you could really use whatever you wanted, and actually I would argue that Better Devils was better than 450's just harder to use. Anyway that's my stance on the matter, I'd love to hear yours.

Edited by blade329: 10/30/2018 6:41:27 PMI came into Destiny 1 at the beginning of Year 2. I missed out on the Y1 festivities. lol. I hear a lot of comments on it. Some players loved, some hated it. I don't know if I would have like it or not. My favorite PvP time was the end of Y2 to the end of Year 3. I was having loads of fun. I thought the game was balanced overall. Not the weapons, but everything as a whole. You didn't have to be skilled with a gun to be good. The powerful abilities, grenades and armor perks were the great equalizer. Knowing how to create a build was just as important as having a good aim. I thought it was really fun and much more challenging. Every player you came across could be lethal. There were also a lot of weapons to choose from that you could use. I never felt that I had to use one gun to be effective. Even the Crucible rewards were good. D2 PvP is still not as good as what I just described. Granted, it is better than it was at launch. The problems I have with PvP right now, have little to do with gear. Lag, clunky movement, terrible skill tree, weak grenades, poor hit registration and horrible maps are top of my list. The gear itself is pretty good right now. I have no problems with people running around with shotguns, or Telesto. I can do the same thing. Have at it boys, I say. Power ammo seems fine to me right now, in Quickplay. I still get killed more by supers than heavy ammo. I'm fine with that. For a loot based game, I think the less skill gap the better. A level playing field (gear wise) hurts this type of game. That is, unless you have some sort of separation for the competitive modes. If you had only select fixed gear for those modes, that would solve a lot of problems. There, you could have a skill gap and it would work. Just my opinion.

Edited by Hero: 10/30/2018 8:41:12 PMSee but I think D1 was amazingly fun especially in the time period you described, yet it could still be quite competitive with only 1 or 2 restrictions in a tournament. D2 right now you would have to restrict so many things it'd be insane and it would lose a lot of the fun aspect. I agree that the things you listed like clunky movement, skill trees, etc, are definitely a bigger problem, and gear is less of one. However, having little to no skill gap is a big problem that can lead to other problems. Destiny 2 right now isn't about who has the better build, or better strategy, it's about "oh I grinded for Luna's, now I'm a God." Should Luna's be good? Absolutely, but it shouldn't be practically required to play the competitive playlist, so in my opinion that's where the gear IS flawed, and could be a problem. I would like to see them fix the problems you listed first, and see how that affects the meta and game. Although I'm not sure if they'll ever do those things. Therefore, it may be better just to put some weapons and gear in line, rather than have the chaotic mess we have now.
