That sounds really interesting! Maybe if my DM ever decides to.. Well.. DM, I’ll have him look into this!

Edited by Rhynerd: 10/25/2018 12:32:25 AMI’m hoping I might get into a group for this as well, although I’m not sure who/how currently. I’m tempted to make a few characters (pilot or otherwise) based off of Blacklight: Retribution.

My experience with tabletop games is pretty scarce, because I don’t really have too many friends to play them with. I had a blast with my limted experience of them, though, and I feel like I’d love ‘em if I could get a group to reliably play. I didn’t look through the papers (er.. files, I guess) enough to know who I’d make for this, but I wouldn’t mind dipping my toe in making some sci-fi characters. I usually make fantasy.

That’s how it is with tabletop games, isn’t it? Play one once, and eventually you’ll be wishing you could play more, even if it’s another system. Heck, when I got into a Warhammer 40k rpg group with some friends, I ended up making four characters for the first one (two because of indecision, two for fun). I’ve probably got more of a penchant for sci-fi than I do fantasy, but under the right mindsets you can do a lot to merge the gaps between the two. If all else fails, perhaps you could take a look at HORUS. That “company” can get pretty fantastic with what they produce.

Originally, with me being a writer & all, out original plan was I was going to get taught how to DM, but my friend thought I’d have a more fun time as a player, so he decided to DM for us. I made this bird guy, was like a humanoid bird thing, servant to a faery queen, who gave him a pet bird to keep an eye on him. We delved into a cave, fought some goblins, and then that was it. He kinda grew on me, though. I miss my bird man. Anyway, any time I try to make sci-fi, it always ends up being sci-fi looking tech, that’s powered by magic in one way or another. I feel like if I had to make a sci-fi character in an existing sci-fi world, it might help me with my own sci-fi stuff (not that I have a lot of it). . . . Man, I need to convince/force our DM to do his job. :p
Man, I need to convince/force our DM to do his job. :p
Speaking from experience, that almost always ends up being a bad experience for all parties involved. The DM/GM is doing something they feel obligated to do, so their heart isn't really in it. And players are stuck into a lackluster game that lacks any real substance.
It's a lot like D2. *ZING*
Ironically enough, I'm in the opposite situation - I'm a DM/GM in search of players. I've actually got a road trip in the works to teach some D1 friends in Canada that wanted to try D&D after watching Stranger Things. Have dice, and everything else for that matter, will travel.

I was just joking. As a writer, myself, I know you can’t just force yourself to write something. At least, not anything good. I do wish he’d put together another session, though.. I wish you luck on your journey to get a group together!
